A bold departure marks the end of an era as Cara Banks exits nearly 11 years with Golf Channel and steps into a full-time role with NBC Sports. Banks, a familiar face for golf fans, hosted her final Golf Channel studio program on Friday, signaling a new chapter in her broadcasting career.
The English journalist and presenter first joined Golf Channel in 2015, taking over Morning Drive from Holly Sonders. Over the years, she grew into a central figure on Golf Central and the network’s signature Golf Channel Live From broadcasts at major championships, becoming one of the channel’s most recognizable voices.
In a message shared on social media, Banks remarked, “End of an era! Today marked my last ever show on @golfchannel. After nearly 11 years of hosting studio golf shows, I will now be moving full time to @nbcsports where you’ll find me on weekend golf coverage, Premier League, Stifel Snow Show & @nbcolympics.”
Her transition aligns with Golf Channel’s upcoming structural change as NBCUniversal reorganizes under Comcast’s Versant spin-off, anticipated to launch in early 2026. This separation will grant Golf Channel independence from NBC Sports, while NBC Sports remains under the parent company. Banks is opting to join NBC Sports ahead of that formal split, where she will serve as a primary interviewer for weekend golf coverage and broaden her role across NBC Sports programming, including Premier League football, the Olympics, and winter sports.
With Banks moving to NBC Sports full-time, Golf Channel loses one of its most recognizable studio presences. She has been the face of Golf Central Live From coverage for six years, anchoring viewers through major championships. Going forward, she will concentrate on weekend golf interviews and NBC’s wider sports portfolio, while Golf Channel searches for a new studio host to fill her chair.
